Teacher Grants

 

QFQE Teacher Grant Application Time Line

February 29—Grant applications are due via interschool mail to Julie Ross in the Renewal Building.

March - April -- QFQE program/marketing committee reviews the applications and contacts teachers regarding questions or concerns.

May 16 -- Teachers will be notified regarding their grant application. Funding awards are for the following school year and may not be carried over.

 

Teacher Grant Information

The following grants were awarded for the 2007-2008 school year:

Early Childhood teachers were awarded grants for the purchase of:

  • Storytelling kits for resources in literacy and language skills.

  • Items to support dramatic play and for a pretend kitchen.

  • Software to create adaptive books for use with children with and without special needs.

Elementary teachers were awarded grants for the purchase of:

  • Books and canvas bags to develop literature bags containing a specific author's works. The bags are available for take-home reading.

  • Literature books which incorporate Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits into the curriculum.

  • Books and materials to develop lesson plans designed to introduce letter writing and setting up a school post office.

  • Books and materials to create hands-on lessons with money by setting up a school store.

  • Professional resources to aid in writing instruction.

  • Tote bags along with other miscellaneous materials to develop "writing bags" for students to use for in-home literacy/writing projects.

  • Funding for transportation/activities for an after-school program.

  • Materials to develop literacy take-home packs.

  • World drums to enhance students' study of multicultural music, drumming techniques, and performance.

 

Middle School teachers were awarded grants for the purchase of:

  • Quality non-fiction books that are appropriately leveled for students with special learning needs.

  • Materials known as "shoebox tasks" along with instructional DVD and manual for a work station in a TMH (Trainable Mentally Handicapped) classroom.

  • World drums to enhance students' study of multicultural music, drumming techniques, and performance.

 

Senior High teachers were awarded grants for the purchase of:

  • Incentives and transportation/expenses for field trips/activities.
